The Taiwan Chamber of Commerce of Chennai, India was officially established on Apr. 25th, with the first Chairman Simon Lee, the CEO of Wagon Groups. The vision of the accociation is to unite local Taiwanese companies/businessmen, and to provide consultation and assistance to Taiwanese capitals who are interested in investing in Chennai.
As the capital of Tamil Nadu Province in southern India Chennai is an industrial center of automobiles, softwares, electronics and health. In recent years, it has attracted more and more Taiwanese capitals to investigate and invest.
For supporting Taiwanese capitals to understand local laws and regulations, to establish communication channels with local governments, and to strengthen the power for problem solving, the Taiwanese capitals in Chennai area decided to establish the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce of Chennai and hold the first genral meeting and elect directors and supervisors of the association.
Simon Lee was elected Chairman of the association, and Zhong Jujijun, Deputy General Manager of Transdien, was elected Vice Chairman. At the same time, the Hall of Taiwan Business Association of Chennai was officially announced open and becomes a platform for Taiwanese capitals to socialize, learn, and discuss business affairs in the Chennai area.
Simon Lee said in a telephone interview by the Central News Agency that the Association will focus on providing efficient communication supports with government for local Taiwanese capitals and assisting new Taiwanese capitals who are interested in entering the country in a "point-to-point docking", so that they can understand the correct information and with investment safely.
Chen Junlang, Director of the TAIWAN Office in Chennai, expressed sincere congratulations on behalf of the TAIWAN government, hoping that the Association will become a platform for info. exchanging and experience sharing among Taiwanese capitals, and assist them to develop successfully in India.
Shi Yulong, Director of the Foreign Trade Association in Chennai, stated that based on past experience overseas, the establishment of a Taiwan Chamber of Commerce is of great responsibility and there are also many challenges to overcome. It is not easy to establish an Association in Chennai, and the first operations team have a long way to go. We hope that friends and family of Taiwanese capitals attended the meeting can provide more support and encouragement.
The Tamil Nadu Provincial Government has also expressed their support to the Association, and both parties will sign the memorandum of cooperation in the near future.
As the fourth Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in India after the Association of Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, The Taiwan Chamber of Commerce of Chennai, represents the success of Taiwanese business in southern India and perfects the communication channels between the four major cities in India where Taiwanese business gathers.
With it's convenient transportation, solid infrastructure, and harmonious cultural and religions, the southern India where Chennai located, enjoys the huge investment from Taiwanese technology companies such as Foxconn, PEGATRON, Wistron, Delta Electronics, TSMT, TECO, as well as traditional manufacturing companies such as FENG TAY, APACHE, NANPAO, and MEI TA.
The collaboration between the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce of Chennai and Investment Promotion Dept. of Tamil Nadu will be established soon, and both will work and grow together to support and introduce more foreign investments.
